The community in Jharkhand is from Dumka district-Santal Tribe and TamilNadu-Krishnagiri District-Irula Tribe who live on mountains which are at 4500 feet altitude.
Lack of electricity, inaccessible roads, lack of transport and other geographical conditins are pushing the community towards starvation, suicides,migration etc. Men migrate to other parts of the country and come home afer several years or do not return. Women, children and old aged after are left behind who fall under the non productive category.
Nirnaya’s goal is to bring about greater gender equality by providing space for village community women to participate in and acknowledge the need for their development and understand the link between areas of poverty reduction, sustainable development and respect for human rights, peace, security and progress. It strives to have time bound and measurable targets.To bridge the gap between poverty and sustainable development with well designed programs.Ensuring women’s access to control over resources,Livelihood issues,eliminate malnutrition developing women sensitive agri-practices an other livelihoods,legal measures on land rights-focus on rights of women, single women headed households, widows, abandoned and deserted women.Help in providing work through out the year for landless women.
