People’s Empowerment Foundation (PEF) is a registered independent non-governmental organization (NGO) that was established in 2006 to address the needs of grassroots civil society networks in Thailand. PEF acts as the executive secretariat for a coalition of community-based organizations in Thailand and maintains close working relationships with other partner networks within the country and throughout Southeast Asia.
Our mission is to create sustainable mechanisms for individual actors, grassroots coalitions and popular movements to work together as networked catalysts for social change.
Our main objectives are:
• To increase the internal organizational capacity of civil society networks and CBOs in Thailand;
• To facilitate direct engagement between various community networks and organizations for the purpose of cultivating a unified civil society movement promoting human rights, human security, peace and democracy in Thai society.
