ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILES
Background of the Organization:
Society of Environment, Rights, Gender and Economy (SERGE) is a women focused non- government, non – political & non- profitable development organization. It is committed to reduce poverty of the highly disadvantaged poor people at grassroots level especially women, adolescents & children through implementation of various development programs. SERGE was established in 2005 and is continuing its support towards its commitment through mainstreaming gender in the development process with a view to empowering women community. The geographical area comprises of Lakshmipur and Noakhali districts of the southern part of Bangladesh. SERGE is working with different local, national and international organizations and Government Departments to support their common goal of gender, environment, rights, good governance and rural development. The area where SERGE working is a disaster prone area, dominated by flood, river erosion, cyclone, tornado etc. The coastal belt people are usually suffer from economic scarcity, socially and culturally dominated religious tabors and educationally far more behind than that of national average. But there are ample opportunities to work with these downtrodden people for their socio economic emancipation.
Vision statement of SERGE:
The Vision of SERGE is the Social, economic, environmental, moral and cultural development of the disadvantaged people especially Women and Children through ensuring their spontaneous participation in development process for peace, security and sustainability where we will be able to live in justice, dignity and democratic value.
Mission Statement of SERGE
The mission statement of SERGE is to develop and empower the poor and vulnerable disadvantaged community especially the women and children by ensuring their involvement in various socio- economic activities to make them capable, self-sufficient, self-governed and self-initiated through development of capacity and institution.
