The STARS Foundation has launched the 2011 STARS Impact Awards to provide grant support and technical assistance for local organizations engaged in providing services to disadvantaged children in the areas of health, education and protection services.
The benefits of the Awards, as we can understand, are:
- There is a grant support of US $100,000, which is an unrestricted funding helping grant recipient NGOs to implement their projects in the most flexible manner.
- The Awards also offer tailor-made technical support and media training for selected organizations so that they can gain skills and apply new tools in implementing their programs.
- The Awards are targeted for local organizations in regions covering many of the poor and developing countries. The regions include Africa, the Middle-East, Asia and the Pacific. This means that only NGOs from these countries can apply – less competition from INGOs or other big organizations.
- With so much being offered, we believe that NGOs should not hesitate to apply for these awards. But difficulties may still arise for some who despite going through all official grant guidelines, fail to respond to this opportunity because they find it too complicated to write down the proposal. To assist such organizations, we have come out with a simple guide to apply for the 2011 STARS Impact Awards.
