A Framework for Action
Smart Africa is an idea that has been conceived because we have a firm belief that prospects for poverty eradication and sustainable development will remain dim until majority of Africans start to use information technology in their daily lives.
Due to these factors, Smart Africa, a soon to be registered Non Governmental Organisation has resolved to offer services to the marginalised communities who cannot afford or do not have access to information technology training. This will enrich the lives of people who would use the skills they acquire to better their lives. This will be achieved by opening training centres in various parts of the country (Kenya) in the areas where the services are needed most i.e. villages and slums.
Many people cannot afford to pay for training in commercial colleges thus do not exhaustively explore their area of entrepreneurship internationally e.g. selling their wares-sculptures, ornaments etc or farm produce for export and offering information technology will bridge the gap in awareness. Due to the necessity of information technology training, many commercial colleges have stemmed up and are making a ‘‘killing’’ off it. Smart Africa will be devoted to providing quality training to the poor thus levelling the gap between the rich and the poor.
Communities can be offered training right where they live and it would encourage enrolment as the service would be offered for free and conveniently accessible.
Smart Africa has a vision to expand across the borders of its founding country (Kenya) and offer its services to the rest of Africa, a country at a time.
Appeal for Funding
We would like to appeal for funding from any organisation so that this dream for the African continent will be realised. Besides monetary funding, assistance can also be endorsed by donation of used computers which in turn can be used in training sessions in various centres. By assisting in our mission, you will change the lives of a multitude of people who will be more than grateful for the help you can provide.
