The USAID (United States Agency for International Development) has launched the Development Grants Program (DGP) to provide funding support to NGOs in countries where the Agency has its presence (click here for the list of eligible countries). Proposals are specifically invited from small and struggling NGOs who have poor access to large fundings from donors. Organizations who received “limited or no prior funding” from the USAID are eligible to apply. Women’s empowerment, micro-enterprise, water (for Africa only), dairy, democracy and governance and environment are the main themes for which funding is made available. Proposals have to be submitted through a two-step process: First, submitting a concept paper and then a full proposal, on request. The last date for submitting the concept note is 5 November 2008. For more information on this grant opporunity, visit this link or download the complete DGP documents from this link.
