Vitiligo Support and Awareness Foundation (VITSAF), is a new Not-for-profit, patient – driven non-governmental organization Incorporated in Nigeria. VITSAF is the very first NGO concerned about the needs of persons living with Vitiligo in Nigeria and West Africa; relieving the agony of blacks turning white by Creating Awareness, Educating the general public and patients through Support and Counseling. VITSAF derives its existence and emergence as a result of lack of understanding and support for persons distressed by Vitiligo in Nigeria and West Africa where so many assumptions about the condition holds sway. It is created to bolster the diminished confidence and the low self esteem as well as stigmatization and segregation usually experienced by persons distressed by Vitiligo.
Our Mission
VITSAF strive to provide Public Awareness/Enlightenment through entertainment, education, dedicated work and counseling. We seek to make persons distressed by the condition primarily in West Africa to live exceptionally, while supporting ongoing research. To encourage and sponsor local herbal research for ultimate cause and cure of Vitiligo.
VITSAF Initiative
A.) Extensive Awareness/Enlightenment Campaign through Education, Documentary, Entertainment – Illustrated Comics, Drama, Music, Concerts and through the Internet to educate the general public and tackle the misconception and negative mindset of the society about Vitiligo
B.) Establishment of a Vitiligo Resource Centre for in-depth information on Vitiligo
i. Library for Vitiligo and Related skin conditions – journals, books and print materials
ii. Make locally available Natural Remedies that improve Vitiligo in conjunction with Health Plus Integrative Pharmacy.
iii. Provide Counseling Services and Moral Support to persons distressed by Vitiligo.
