WHO WE ARE.
The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) is an International Community Service Organization fostering constructive, social, Physical, and educational activities for Youth and the entire community of both sexes. The YMCA serves people of all ages, income, abilities, races, and religion. Bound by a common mission each branch functions independently, responding to the needs of its community.
Bauchi YMCA was established in 1976 and since inception; the YMCA has been in the mainstream of community development through these departments: Vocational Training Centre (VTC) an arm of the YMCA that support the training of young artisans in carpentry. YMCA Nursery/Primary School. Through which the basic education objective is institutionalized. The Reproductive Health (RH) Project office. Facilitating healthy life styles and family welfare among youth and families in the community.Youth Democracy and Human rights which strengthens leadership capacity of youth and deepens their understanding on the fundamentals of democracy and Human rights.
Other activities of Bauchi YMCA includes leadership development, advocacy and capacity building programmes for the youth and community through: camps, conferences, workshops and leadership trainings.
OUR POSITION.
Bauchi YMCA was the first Non Governmental Organization (NGO) to make presence in Bauchi after the state creation in 1976, and through the years, the YMCA has been setting the pace in constructive youth and community development in Bauchi through programmes.
As a volunteer driven Organization, the YMCA places strong emphasis on democratic leadership, transparent governance, and inclusive participation of the communities we are working with and this is what makes us strategically positioned in the communities we serve.
The strategic placement of youth at policy making levels of the Organization shows our key position in fostering youth development as an effective tool for community development.
