Background and Rationale
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a critical social and public health issue. According to UN Women, nearly one in three women globally experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. In many communities, GBV is normalized due to harmful gender norms, unequal power relations, economic dependency, and lack of awareness.
While legal frameworks exist, prevention requires grassroots-level transformation. Community engagement approaches—supported by organizations such as UNICEF and United Nations Population Fund—have demonstrated that lasting change occurs when communities themselves challenge violence and promote equality.
This proposal aims to implement a structured, community-led prevention model to reduce GBV and promote safe, inclusive environments for women and girls.
