The East Asian Development Network (EADN) is inviting research institutes in to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the role of EADN Regional Coordinator and host the Secretariat. It is a role for a period of 5 years and will be effective from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2020. The job role of Regional Coordinator and Secretariat is to handle all the EADN research and other related activities starting from 1 July 2015.
The East Asia Development Network was established in 1998 with the help of the World Bank, the Global Development Network (GDN), Dr CHIA Siow Yue, and the director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (Singapore). The EADN mission is to enhance policy-oriented research on socio-economic development issues in East Asia.
Eligibility Criteria
Institutes interested must be:
- located in East Asia
- engaged in socioeconomic research on development issues within East Asia with an
- emphasis on empirical work and policy relevance
- legally incorporated
- regularly audited by recognized external auditors
- committed to supporting research throughout the region
- able to organize conferences, competitions for small grants, and initiate and oversee
- region-wide research projects
- well connected to other research institutes throughout the region
- technically capable of managing the EADN website
- willing to serve as the partner for GDN in East Asia
- has ability to raise funds, engage in joint projects and funding, and expand the
- research capacity building and networking activities in the region.
Each institute will have to nominate an individual as Regional Coordinator who:
- holds a senior position in the institute, preferably director or president
- has a strong professional record as a researcher
- is well connected with other researchers and well respected throughout East Asia
- has a genuine interest in promoting socioeconomic research throughout East Asia.
How to Apply
Submit proposal containing following information:
- A description of the institute. This should cover objectives, activities, staff, and legal status. An Annual Report would be acceptable.
- An external audit. This should be the most recent report of a recognized external auditor.
- A CV of the proposed Regional Coordinator.
- A one-page statement explaining why the proposed regional coordinator and institute should be selected and how they would see EADN developing over the next five years.
