American Society of Primatologists (ASP) is accepting grant proposals for Conservation Small Grants and nominations for Young Conservationist Awards 2014. Deadlines for the grant proposal submission is 31 January and for award nominations is 1 March 2014.
Major aim of the small grants for conservation is to provide funding for conservation research or related projects, including conservation education. The aim of conservationist award is to provide recognition and financial support for students and young investigators from habitat countries who demonstrate potential for making significant and continuing contributions to primate conservation.
Eligibility Criteria –
- ASP members working in habitat countries or helping someone from a habitat country are eligible to apply for the grants in condition that the proposed project is a part of larger effort.
- Non-members and students can also apply.
- Students, researchers, and educators from primate habitat countries for whom no more than five years have elapsed since receipt of their terminal degree are eligible to be nominated for the conservationist award.
A copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae, supporting letters from other individuals acquainted with the nominee’s work, past awards that have been presented by U.S. Ambassadors or other senior officials, thereby obtaining favorable publicity for the award, its recipient, and primate conservation in the recipient’s country strengthen the chances of nominee being awarded.
Non-members and students are required to submit one (1) letter of recommendation (preferably from a current ASP member if a non-member; from an academic advisor if a student.
