The annual Sheila McKechnie Foundation Campaigner Awards provide a support programme for emerging and grassroots campaigners working across a wide range of issues. The awards scheme offers a unique development package to campaigners aiming to equip them with the skills they need to make a greater impact and achieve real change. The awards are for individuals who are new to campaigning or operating with few resources and who show passion, tenacity and the potential to create change – locally, nationally or globally. There are nine grouping this year: Consumer Action; Environment; International Campaigner; Local Campaigner; London Social Justice; Shout Out!; Social and Economic Justice; Take Action and Transport.
International Campaigner Award
The awards are for individuals who are grassroots campaigning or operating with few resources and who show passion, tenacity and the potential to create change – locally, nationally or globally. This award has been set up to recognize campaigners who is outside the UK, in specific countries in the global South, and working to achieve social, economic or environmental justice in their home countries.
Eligibility
Applicant must have campaigned for less than five years and campaigning on an issue that affects the wider community, not just one individual.
One should have completed age of 18 years and who can organize your own visa if you are needed to enter the UK.
Deadline for application: Prior to 1pm on Monday 20th June 2011.
