The Dutch Postcode Lottery (Nationale Postcode Loterij), the Netherlands’ biggest and most popular charitable lottery, supporting more than 60 charity organizations, has launched the 2011 Postcode Lottery Green Challenge. This €500,000 competition is for people who can instigate change – creative, innovative thought leaders and organizations.
The Green Challenge is looking for products and services that contribute to an eco-friendly lifestyle, directly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and score highly on convenience, quality and design. It has been initiated to encourage the development of new, innovative, creative and yet commercially viable products and/or services that contribute to an eco-friendly lifestyle, directly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and score highly on convenience, quality and design
The Postcode Lottery Green Challenge is open to any individual from any country from the age of 18 years and to companies, businesses, institutions and all other organisations.
Judging Procedure
All Entries shall be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- potential to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, specified as a roughly estimated yearly reduction amount;
- executability;
- realisability as a usable product or service within the next two years;
- any other criteria the Preliminary Jury and/or the Jury, both to be appointed by the Dutch Postcode Lottery, in their sole discretion deem relevant.
Judging is a two-stage procedure. At the first stage, the Preliminary Jury at its sole discretion shall select five to seven finalists (“Finalists”). Finalists shall be notified by phone by 11:59pm on 1 September 2011 and shall be required to attend the PICNIC Conference in Amsterdam from 11 September through 16 September 2011 (“PICNIC Conference”) to present their Entries before an audience.
