Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, NY is inviting the nominations for The Guru Nanak Interfaith Prize 2012. Initiated in 2008, it is a biannual award carrying a cash award of $50,000. The award was established with the aim of enhancing the awareness of the critical role of religious dialogue in the pursuit of peace as well as providing direct support for the furtherance of such activities.
So far, this award has been awarded to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, Tenzin Gyatso, in the year 2008 and in 2010 it was awarded to Rabbi Arthur Schneier and Religions for Peace.
Hofstra College invites nominations for any living individual or organization that the nominator considers has played a role in promoting the constructive dialogue and/or relations between various religious or faith communities.
There is a range of activities considered for this award. The nominee may have worked in bringing people from different religions together towards achieving a common goal; he may be an artist or author with a work produced aimed at strengthening the interfaith dialogue; or may be a public face with contribution towards bringing the faith communities together.
