The International Primatological Society (IPS) is accepting applications for Charles Southwick Conservation Education Commitment Award. The award is committed to individuals who belongs to primate habitat countries and have made a remarkable contribution to conservation education. Investigators working in primate habitat areas are encouraged to nominate members of their staff.
The winner will receive an amount of $1,000 USD from which $750 USD will be awarded directly and rest $250 USD will be given in the recipient’s name to a project of the chosen community.
The International Primatological Society was created to encourage all areas of non-human primatological scientific research, to facilitate cooperation among scientists of all nationalities engaged in primate research, and to promote the conservation of all primate species.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be individuals living in primate habitat countries that have made a significant contribution to formal and informal conservation education in their countries.
- Candidates do not need to have an advanced degree to be eligible.

How to Apply
Nominators should provide the name, title and full mailing address of their nominee, along with a letter of recommendation stating the nominee’s qualifications for the award, focusing on past and potential contributions to conservation education. A copy of the nominee’s resume should also be included. Supporting letters from other individuals acquainted with the nominee’s work may be submitted as part of the packet.
