The Liberty Human Rights Awards aim to honour those individuals and organisations dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights of other. Liberty also known as the National Council for Civil Liberties. Founded in 1934, a cross party, non-party membership organisation at the heart of the movement for fundamental rights and freedoms in the UK announce the call for nomination for ” 2012 Liberty Human Rights Awards” for UK human rights activist and organizations.
The Liberty Human Rights Awards offer a unique opportunity to honour the work of individuals and organisations in the UK who have dedicated themselves to protecting and promoting the rights of others.
Nominations for our 2012 awards is now open, so this is your chance to put forward any group, organisation or individual that you think deserves recognition. This could be a campaign group, NGO or individual campaigner working on a local or national level – or a professional who has consistently provided essential support, information or inspiration.
If you know someone who you think deserves special recognition for their work on behalf of human rights? If so, Liberty would like to hear from you.
Liberty welcome nominations for people from all disciplines – be it law, politics, campaigning or journalism – as well as any other group or individual that you think has made a significant contribution to the cause of human rights.
Past award categories have included Human Rights Young Person of the Year, Human Rights Lawyer of the Year and our ‘Close to Home’ award for those who battle for the rights and freedoms of their own families, streets and communities. These categories are not fixed so please do nominate anyone you think deserves acknowledgment for their work fighting to protect, promote and broaden respect for human rights.
Eligibility ?
Anyone who has made a significant contribution to the promotion or protection of human rights in the UK over the last year.
How do I nominate?
Nominations should be emailed to nominations@liberty-human-rights.org.uk by 5pm on Friday 7th September 2012.
Nominations should include the full name and contact details of both the nominee and the nominator and be supported by a statement explaining why you think your nominee deserves an award.
Please note that all nominations will be judged on their individual merit, and multiple nominations for candidates will not increase their chance of consideration.
Please confirm the age of anyone you wish to nominate for our Young Person’s Award.
Nominations may be made by any organisation, group or individual. Self nomination is not permitted.
