Launched in 2004, the Manthan Award is the initiative of Digital Empowerment Foundation in India with an aim to recognize and honour the best practices in e-Content and Creativity. Digital Empowerment Foundation launched this award in association with World Summit Award, Department of Information Technology, Govt. of India, and many other organizations. The areas of operation of the award are now being extended outside India in all of SAARC countries.
Objective
The core objective of the Manthan Award process is: making visible the contents that already exist and thus demonstrating the richness and diversity of content creativity to those interested in understanding and planning an Information Society.
The Manthan Award wants to demonstrate to every stakeholder the existing range of creativity and excellence in the use of the IT tools and communication networks. It seeks to substantiate the conviction that access to networks and ICT platforms is beneficial to the high quality and value of e-contents which are produced and available. It attempts to consider that quality contents, their production and economic sustainability are fundamental requirements which require changes to the way markets operate and governments act.

The Manthan Award is open to any of the following in the content industry in any SAARC countries.
Governments, Individuals/Students, Entrepreneurs, Industry (Private Sector Companies/Corporates), Academician and Academic institutions, NGOs

– Uniqueness of Idea:
– Content: quantify matching quality of content and services delivery, relevance of content and its utility value
– Interface & Technical specialty: Innovative design with unique features of applications having user appealing features
