The Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) invites nominations of individuals who have significantly contributed to and have made outstanding achievements of lasting significance in developed or developing countries for the Stockholm Water Prize 2015.
Any activity or actor that contributes broadly to the availability, conservation and protection of the world’s water resources, and to improved water conditions which contribute to the health of the planet’s inhabitants and ecosystems can be nominated by any individual around the world for the Water Prize.
Categories
- Outreach and Awareness Raising – Dissemination and outreach of knowledge through education and training of students or water professionals or communities; dissemination of information to and awareness raising of larger groups of citizens, decision-makers and non-specialists.
- Policy and Practices – sound governance and management of water including implementation as well as to the health and well-being of people, society and communities.
- Research (basic and applied) – Development of and leadership in new knowledge of natural or physical or technological processes, functioning of complex systems, and development of new ecological or economical or legislative or institutional or administrative principles applicable to sustainable water management.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nominee must have made outstanding achievements of lasting significance in developed or developing countries.
- Nominee’s work should have great potential or proven impact and provided stimulation for further important work.
- Nominee must come under one of the above mentioned categories.
- Nominator must have sufficient knowledge about the nominee. Nominator cannot have a kinship or a monetary relationship with, or should not be immediate superiors of the nominee.
- Self-nominations are not accepted.
- Nominations must be submitted in English language. Nominations form must be completely filled to be considered for the evaluation.
