Partners Albania, Center for Change and Conflict Management, is currently seeking nominations for the Philanthropy Award 2011 aimed at promoting philanthropy in Albania.
Partners Albania, an Albanian NGO, is a member of Partners for Democratic Change International, a global network of 19 Centers. Established in 2001, Partners Albania has been supporting the development of civil society and active citizenship so as to achieve sustainable social, economic and cultural development of the country.
Goal of the Award
In Albania, as in many other countries philanthropic activity has taken various forms depending on the society development needs. Philanthropy is a private initiative of individuals, families or businesses who have the means, time and motivation to support an issue or need which contributes toward a common social good.
Through Philanthropy Award 2011, supported by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Partners Albania strives to keep the old and valuable tradition of philanthropy alive by expressing gratitude to individuals, families and businesses who contribute to improving the quality of life in the society. It considers that this activity must be appreciated and stimulated in the form of recognition considering the human and economic dimension it represents.
Eligibility
All social actors in and outside Albania are invited to submit their nominations for individuals or entities who have and continue to give their contribution in supporting the development of public good in Albania.
Categories
Three categories for nominations for the Philanthropy Award 2011 are:
– Award for entities Contributing at the National Level
– Award for entities Contributing at the Local Level
– Award for the Individual Contribution
Selection Process
Nominations will be reviewed by a representative panel of civil society sector, media and institutions supporting the economic and social development in Albania.
Awards will be announced at a public event Partners Albania will organize in November 2011.
