Teach A Man to Fish is organizing the 2012 competition on EDUCATING AFRICA Pan-African Awards for Entrepreneurship in Education. The competition has a first prize of $10,000, second and third prize of $5000 and 55 country prizes of $1000. The competition has been sponsored by its partner organization, Educating Africa
The competition seeks to reward organizations in Africa that use innovative and entrepreneurial techniques to fill gaps in educational services across the continent. The competition is open to all organizations based in Africa working in education, from primary through to tertiary, as well as in non-formal and adult education.
Previous winners have ranged from agricultural training initiatives, to family learning and vocational training, and even targeted international volunteering agencies – we are looking for anything and everything that combats poverty in an innovative, sustainable and effective way, so no matter how large or small your organisation, get in touch.
The main features the organizers looking for project under this competition are:
- They’re entrepreneurial: developing innovative, replicable & scalable approaches to tackling entrenched problems in education; empowering future generations of entrepreneurs
- They’re sustainable: financially, socially and environmentally; looking beyond donations and subsidies as the primary means of creating positive social and environmental outcomes
- They create impact: achieving measurable results in terms of educational achievement and economic outcomes for participants and their communities.
