United Methodist Women is inviting applicants for Theressa Hoover Community Service and Global Citizenship Award. The grant is awarded to a woman who wishes to travel in order to explore and study one of four priority issues listed below. The proposed project must take place in a region other than the applicants own. The emphasis on travel and field work is in recognition of Theressa Hoover’s strong belief in this way of learning, and it honors her legacy of global citizenship.

- The maximum amount per award is $10,000.
- The award will be one-time grant award.
Priorities
- Climate Justice: Life-giving stewardship that promotes sustainability
- Maternal and Child Health: Life-saving access and education that promotes well-being
- Racial and Gender Justice: Protecting women and families by ending the criminalization of people of color
- Economic Justice: Inequality as a women’s issue.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be a lay woman between the ages of 21 and 35 of any race or nationality.
- Funds must be used for travel to another country or region other than one’s own.
- This is a one-time grant award.
- The maximum amount per award is $10,000.
- Awardees will be required to provide a written report, give a presentation about their trip and project at an annual United Methodist Women Board or Program Advisory Group meeting, and participate in a Leadership Development Days event.
- Preference will be given to applications that outline a strong evaluation/reporting plan for the proposed project.
- Not all applications will be funded.
