Leuphana Sustainability Summit, 29th February – 2nd March 2012
In 2012 the international community will celebrate 20 years of Agenda 21, the guiding vision agreed to by 179 nations at the Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. In this context, Leuphana Sustainability Summit is being held in Lüneburg, Germany during February 29 to march 2, 2012.
The conference with the theme “Sustainability: Enabling a Transdisciplinary Approach” focuses on three leading questions:
1. What insights about the role of transdisciplinarity for sustainability transitions have we gained over the last 10 years?
2. What gaps in research remain silent?
3. How can we fill these gaps?
At the conference leading researchers, particularly in sustainability, and high-level decision-makers will meet in a transdisciplinary setting with a goal of creating new insights to help move sustainability forward. To accomplish this, 60% of the participants (researchers and decision makers) will be invited, while 40% will be selected by a rigorous peer-review of an international board. The conference will consist of plenary presentations followed by discussion, specialized track sessions and case-study workshops. New media technology will connect the conference discussion and results to a broader audience.
Call for Papers
In this regard, the organizers of this summit have issued a call for papers inviting interested researchers in the field of sustainability to submit papers for presentation and discussion at the specialized track sessions. The papers may pursue (inter) disciplinary perspectives such as management, governance, communication, ecology, environmental chemistry or sustainable infrastructures.
