Deadline for applications is 13th August 2012 (16:00 GMT)
WISIONS is currently accepting applications for the 8th round of its Sustainable Energy Project Support (SEPS).
The main emphasis of the 8th SEPS call for applications is on projects which aim to implement innovative and sustainable energy solutions to secure access to reliable electricity using renewable energy sources in an environmentally friendly way. WISIONS is looking for activities which harness local human and natural resources in order to respond to local energy needs.
WISION is p looking to identify projects that address problems/issues which are not yet mainstream and that offer innovative approaches/solutions. Therefore, the types of projects to be selected are those that stimulate the productive use of sustainable energy which can influence public opinion and regional decision makers in the field of renewable energy and/or are part of a regional development towards sustainability.
With its limited grant funding, WISIONS cannot offer support for the expansion of existing projects or for the replication of common electrification projects (e.g. photovoltaic systems for community electrification). Background on the issues, as well as examples of existing technologies, their potentials, impacts and development prospects, can be found under “Electricity” in our Technology Radar and in our brochure “Access to Electricity” (PDF).
Application Procedure:
The projects must be innovative and demonstrate an integrated and sound approach to their implementation. Only projects which are ready to be implemented are eligible for SEPS support. Applicants are therefore required to submit the following:
•A completed SEPS application form (PDF)
•A project budget in Euros (€) (if financial support is being sought)
•A preliminary time schedule
•Calculations demonstrating the potential reduction in fossil primary energy and CO2 emissions (see the updated information on the baseline calculation)
Applicants may submit detailed documentation including a comprehensive description of the key aspects and arguments in favor of the project. The number of extra pages (including budget plan, time schedule and the calculations of reductions in fossil fuel use and CO2 emissions) must not exceed 10 pages.
The total grant fund for the 8th round (2012) is €400,000, to be divided among all projects. A maximum of 8 – 10 projects will be selected for support in a three-stage validation procedure based on internationally recognized sustainability criteria. Partial funding of projects is possible. In this case, please give information about other sources of funding and the need for further funding.
SEPS financial support cannot be used for:
•Product development
•Product launches and product marketing
•Research studies
•Large-scale hydro power
•Nuclear power
