Call for Proposals: MRLG Grant Facility Innovation Fund

The Mekong Region Land Governance (MRLG) supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Luxembourg Government Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MFEA) has announced its 2nd Call for Innovation Fund proposals.

The purpose of innovative project proposals must align with the MRLG project goal to pursue multi-stakeholder collaborations that will improve the tenure security of family farmers in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Viet Nam (CLMV). These should address this goal through a focus on land rights and customary tenure recognition; regulation of large scale land acquisition and responsible land-based investments.

Grant Information

  • The Innovation Fund (IF) grant window will provide project funding to a maximum of US$250,000 with up to 2 years implementation.
  • To support innovative proposals, MLRG prefers submissions that propose a 2-phased approach. The first phase used as a project incubation small grant up to US$75,000 over 6 months to design, plan and mobilize project activities that are then implemented in phase 2 for the remainder period, up to 2 years. A total inclusive budget of US$ 250,000 is possible (total budget and period includes the small grant). The 2nd Phase design will be subject to Project Steering Committee approval.
  • The 2nd MRLG Call offers new opportunities through Small Grants with funding up to a maximum of US$ 75,000 for 2 year implementation period.

The government institutions, private sector organizations or other organizations jointly implementing with government and/or private sector organizations are eligible to apply.

How to Apply

All IF grant proposals must identify a lead organization as main proponent. Joint proposals are strongly encouraged and desired.

The following are the basic eligibility requirements for the IF Grant Fund Application:

  • Completeness of documents submitted
    • Signed Letter expressing intent to apply for the IF Grant,
    • IF Grant Concept Note (maximum 6 pages, strict limit)
    • Signed Proponents Commitment of Partnership and Accountability Undertaking (signed by all partners to the proposal)
    • Lead Organization’s Registration Documents (not necessary if the lead is a government agency)
  • Documented track record of the applicant in managing and implementing projects of the size proposed.

International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) is currently inviting applicants for its Midwives4all Prize 2016 with a motive to increase the visibility of their good work in saving the lives of mothers, new born and families.

The Midwives4all Prize, a certificate of recognition, is awarded to an exceptional midwife who has demonstrated her/his achievements as a change-agent in the midwifery profession through education, provision of services, regulation, research, midwifery association development, and/or advocacy in his/her country.

The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is inviting applicants for ASEF Journalists’ Workshop on “Asia-Europe Digital Connectivity” to provide an opportunity for 20 journalists to come together to share their professional media experiences and perspectives from national and regional levels, in a direct exchange with their regional counterparts.  It is a two day event which will be held from 7-11 May 2016 in Guangzhou, China.

This workshop will be a platform for the participants to share their journalistic experiences in and perspectives on handling digital connectivity from national and regional levels. Through discussions, the event will explore the current environment of ‘digital connect’ and the role of journalism in reflecting and facilitating ‘connectivity’ between diverse communities.

ASEF is the only permanently established institution of ASEM and is funded by voluntary contributions from its member governments and shares the financing of its projects with its civil society partners across Asia and Europe.

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is seeking applications for its World of Food Innovation Challenge. The YSEALI Innovation Challenge will consider innovative technology solutions that are most likely to have a positive impact on agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries.

Applicants can submit their innovative technology ideas to boost regional food security for a chance to join other young leaders on a weeklong training in Singapore and to participate in a study tour to the United States!

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must be YSEALI members, ages 18-35 years old, and must be a citizen of one of the participating countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam).
  • Multi-disciplinary teams of students (e.g. students in agriculture, business, computer science, engineering, and food science) who are currently enrolled in a post-secondary technical vocational education and training (TVET) institution or university in participating countries.
  • Teams must be limited to three members.
  • Diversity of team members, including a balance of male and female members, is strongly encouraged.
  • An instructor or faculty member must agree in writing to provide guidance and mentorship to support the team throughout the duration of the Innovation Challenge.

Grant Information

The World Health Organization Western Pacific Region (WPR) and the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) have announced the 2016-2017 call for applications for the Joint TDR/WPR Small Grants Scheme for implementation research in infectious diseases of poverty.

Objectives

  • Strengthen the research capacity of relevant national individuals and institutions in conducting implementation research.
  • Facilitate and strengthen implementation research in countries for the control and elimination of infectious diseases of poverty, including research that addresses issues related to the culture and environment that contribute to these problems.

Research Areas

  • Prevention and control of infectious diseases of poverty.
  • Knowledge gap related to an operational/programmatic issue that has a direct policy and programmatic relevance.
  • Health systems, health service delivery, community-based approaches or qualitative research topics in the context of the diseases.
