Young Innovators Competition 2015 : Entrepreneurship Challenge is accepting entries till the end of this month. The ITU Telecom World invites young social entrepreneurs between 18-30 years, from anywhere in the world, who are using innovative ICT-based ideas to encourage entrepreneurship in local communities to participate in the Challenge. Two winners will be invited to join ITU Telecom World 2015 in Budapest, Hungary, 12-25 October 2015 to pitch their ideas, participate in workshops, benefit from a year of ongoing mentorship, and win seed funding.

- Business workshops, networking, showcasing and pitching opportunities with potential investors at ITU Telecom World in Budapest
- Mentorship programme throughout the development year
Submitted projects can be the efforts to encourage entrepreneurs in any field, through incubation, skill building, mentorship, sharing resources and collaboration between small businesses. The focus of this challenge will be on providing access to resources, education, incubation, startup capital, investment and support to new startups, and on connecting startups with one another, with potential employees and with mentors and experts.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Competition is open to individuals from Members States of the ITU. Individuals must be born between 5 October 1985 and 5 October 1997 to be considered eligible to participate and win in the Competition. Participants outside of this range may still participate but they will not be eligible to win the Competition.
- The individual participating in the competition must serve as a legitimate representative of their organization, though they do not necessarily need to be its founder or serve in another specific capacity. The organizers reserve the right to determine what represents legitimate representation.
- The Competition shall consist of several challenges (“Challenges”), focusing on different technical or development issues. The Challenges are open to applicants representing existing technological start-up companies active on the subject matter of the Challenge, who will be required to submit their executive summary and business plan; and to applicants working on new startups, who will be encouraged to collaborate with other participants to create an executive summary and business plan. Submitted ideas will be reviewed by moderators and may be deleted, dismissed, funneled to the next step in the process and/or remixed with other ideas and submissions.
- Winning projects of previous Young Innovators Competitions are not eligible to be considered for an award in any Challenge of the Competition. By way of derogation to this principle, projects which previously won as concepts for startups may be able to apply if they have made sufficient progress toward establishing a functional startup.
- All entries, regardless of categories, must not: a. violate the intellectual property rights of third parties; b. be illegal under applicable national laws and international law; and c. depict or incite hatred, defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten a specific person or social group, incite violence or conflict or otherwise violate the legal rights of third parties (including those of privacy and publicity).
- Applicants may work with other individuals or teams of individuals but only the founder of a start-up or the submitter of the contribution will be eligible for winning the Competition.
- All entries must be submitted in English.
