The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is calling concept papers to strengthen and support locally-led peace-building and atrocity prevention in Central African Republic (CAR) over next five years, i.e. 2015-2019. Concept papers must reflect the goals and objectives in relation to CAR’s peace-building program.
USAID has planned to contribute a maximum amount up to $7,000,000. Award amounts will vary, though USAID anticipates that no single award issued under this addendum will be less than $200,000 or more than $2 million.
The CAR Peace-building Partnership (CPP or “the Partnership”) is a public-private partnership (PPP) among donors, private foundations, non-governmental organizations, civil society, and government that supports locally-led peace-building in the Central African Republic.
Eligibility Criteria
- Potential CAR peace-building funding partners or fund seekers are not eligible.
- All concept papers must reflect and propose collaboration with local partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and build on capacities already present or emerging in CAR.
- Applicants must have engagement with local communities throughout all phases of the program, including design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Applicants must be able to adjust programs to a rapidly changing environment.
- Clear incorporation of “Do No Harm” principles within program work.
- An approach that strengthens the ability of local partners and key stakeholders to engage and lead on these issues beyond the life of USAID funding.
- Potential for building longer-term resilience for preventing violence and sustaining peace in the CAR.
- Contribution to learning on locally-led peace-building.
- Commitment to engaging and empowering leadership among youth, women, and across diverse religious and ethnic groups.
