3rd day Annual International Conference of the RGS-IBG will be organized at University of Edinburgh on the topic “Security of geography/geography of security” from Tuesday, 3 July 2012 to Thursday, 5 July 2012. The conference will attract more than 1,200 geographers from all over the globe.
The main aim of this conference is to reduce resources used in the conference, by sourcing supplies and food locally, using recycled and recyclable materials. Moreover, the conference aims to encourage optimum utilization by reducing, reusing and recycling conference materials to maximum extent.
In addition to this, recycle bins will be available for glass, aluminium, paper, card as well as general waste bins. The delegated will be encouraged to sort out the material before they discard. Recyclable water bottle will be available for every person which can be re-filled using the water coolers. The food containers used will be made from recycled material.
Conference bags, lanyards, programme books and promotional material can be kept, or placed in the bins provided to be reused. Keeping in mind the carbon emissions for international conferences come from the travel of delegates, all participants will be requested to make travel arrangements.
