A global Conference on topic ‘Agri Business Incubation Conference’ will be organized on February 6 and February 8, 2012 at New Delhi, India. Aimed at Promoting agribusiness in the country the conference will be inaugurated by former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. This conference is an initiative of International Crop Research Institute for the Semi Arid Tropics (ICRISAT).
The information of the event was given by Chief Operating Officer of ‘Agri Business Incubator Program’ of the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), S M Karuppanchetty. He also said, “Incubation involves agribusiness, covering five verticals crops, horticulture, animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries. These incubators are a joint initiative of Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR) and ICRISAT and have been set up across India to help freshers, innovators, institutes having knowledge, but lacking the wherewithal”. He further added this event will help the corporate to diversify agri business verticals to have applied training and also help the entrepreneur with technical support and funding. According to Karuppanchetty, ICRISAT has now collaborated with Africa to incorporate 6 agricultural incubators called University Business and Research in Agriculture (UNIBRAIN) through joint venture with Forum for Agricultural Research in Agriculture (FARA). Karuppanchetty said, Owing to the success of ICRISAT model, the government is striving to launch these incubators across India. Moreover, the Planning Commission is expected to arrange more such incubators in the 12th plan.
