The International Social Science Council (ISSC) is accepting applications for interdisciplinary World Social Science Seminar on Risk Interpretation and Action: Decision-making under conditions of uncertainty. Seminar will be conducted in Wellington and Christchurch, New Zealand for 7 – 15 December 2013. The purpose of this seminar is to advance the practice and use of the social and behavioural sciences in all parts of the world, and to ensure their global representation.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- A post-doctoral researcher with a maximum of five years research experience following a PhD (candidates with more research experience can also be considered, if they explain why they should be eligible)
- An early career researcher without a PhD but with an equivalent level of research experience and output;
- Under 40 years of age (candidates over the age of 40 can also be considered, if they explain why they should be eligible)
- To apply for selection as a World Social Science Fellow, please submit the following, in English-
- A Curriculum Vitae
- In addition to the 2 page CV, add a list of applicants most important publications.
- A statement (one page maximum) outlining how applicants work (potentially) fits in/contributes to the the RIA-IRDR conceptual framework for response to natural hazards.
- An overview (one page maximum) of key influences on applicants scientific work.
- Agreement from applicant’s home institution about their participation in the seminar, including a short outline of how they will share knowledge they have gained at the seminar with their colleagues/students after they return
