The Second Global Knowledge Share Fair will be held from 27-29 September 2011 at the IFAD headquarters in Rome, Italy. This three-day event provides a forum for participants to learn and share their knowledge, experience and innovations on emerging trends relating to agriculture, food security, price volatility, climate change, changing demographics and other rural development related issues.
The organizers are inviting proposals for the following themes:
- new trends and thinking on coping with market access challenges and developing markets for small farmers
- innovative use of mobile technology and/or social media in the agriculture sector to enhance food security and nutrition
- the impact of migration and population growth to feed future population
- new technologies and innovative agricultural and farming practices to increase productivity
- opportunities for innovative partnerships including with private sector, farmer organizations
- environment-friendly and green innovations
Applications should be submitted in English, French or Spanish. In case of submissions in French or Spanish, we encourage you to provide an abstract in English.
The sessions will use a number of interactive knowledge sharing methods such as World Café, Chat Show, Peer Assist, Fish Bowl, Ted Talk, Open Space.
Preference will be given to:
- projects covering one or more abovementioned themes; and
- projects showcasing collaboration between two or more organizations
* in the case of the Rome-based agencies, collaboration between two or more agencies is strongly encouraged
The deadline to submit proposals and abstracts is 1 July 2011. Although no funding has been allocated for travel or subsistence, participants from developing countries who are unable to secure funds can contact the organizers with full details of the requirements including contact information. If funds do become available in the future, the organizers will try their best to contritubute to their participation.
