European Youth Parliament Finland is planning to host MEdiT’11 in Helsinki during the month of October 2011 that will bring together more than 30 young committed individuals to a convention for five days. During the convention the participants will get an opportunity to discuss, experience, and shape future ideas about using media in intercultural youth dialogue and the role of the media in non-formal learning. The aim of MEdiT’11 is to gather, revise, and disseminate knowledge and best practices in this field.
The five day convention to be conducted from 26th to 30th of October will keep the participants engaged in an open space format to share and learn about topics they find important and inspiring. It will give each participant an opportunity to be a learner as well as a trainer. This way the participants will be able to share their knowledge and apply best practices besides putting forward their needs. Additionally, there will be inputs from external experts and excursions.
The convention will be held in the Happi Youth Media Centre in Helsinki, which provides excellent facilities for working with all types of media (desktop publishing, internet, video and audio) and space for constant group facilitation and evaluation to support the learning process.
Target Group
The target group of MEdiT’11 are young people, who are active in intercultural youth dialogue and exchange, voluntary work in a European youth organisations and have already gathered experience in non-formal learning and the usage of media as a supportive tool. This event is especially designed for members of the European Youth Parliament and the European Youth Press. However, members from other organisations are welcomed to participate.
Eligibility
Applicants must be members of a youth organisation operating in an EU country, and under 30 years old. Members from non-EU youth organisations can also apply, but only a limited amount of these applicants can be selected.
Costs of participation
There is no participation fee. Accommodation, food, and transport are all included. The travels for the participants are reimbursed up to 70%. MEdit is funded by the Youth in Action-Programme of the European Commission.
