“From Conflict to Peace: Innovative Approaches to Peacebuilding” is a major international conference co-hosted by the Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution program at Georgetown University and Georgetown University’s Office of the President. It will be held on Georgetown’s historic campus in Washington, D.C. September 8-9, 2011. The event is expected to serve as an intellectual gathering of students, faculty, and practitioners in the field of conflict resolution.
The Conference is organized and sponsored by the M.A. in Conflict Resolution program and the Office of the President at Georgetown University, and there will be four discussion panels on the following topics:
a) Post-Apartheid nation building in South Africa
b) The Northern Ireland Peace Process and where we are now
c) The Israel-Palestine conflict
d) Practitioners and organizations on the front lines of change
Several internationally acclaimed speakers have been invited for the panels, and discussions will focus on recent developments, current challenges and areas for potential improvement in conflict zones throughout the world. The conference is also an opportunity for engagement and active learning.
The day-long event on September 8 will serve as an intellectual gathering of students, faculty, and practitioners in the field of conflict resolution. September 9 morning’s events include presentations and discussions by students of conflict resolution. Both days are open for all to attend.
