International Labour and Communication Conference will be organized from May 7th to 8th, 2012 at Ankara, Turkey. As a part of the Seventh International Labour Film & Video Festival, Labour communication academics and activists will join together during the International Labour and Communication Conference.
Since the inception of the 21st century, the interaction of communication, technology and labour will lead to economic, political and ideological structures of capitalism. However, this interaction means new possibilities in the organization, solidarity and resistance practices of labor.
LaborComm 2012 emphasizes on the new forms of capitalism and the possibilities of organization, solidarity and resistance of labour within the context of communication. Moreover, LaborComm 2012 aims to discuss new forms of work and class formation within the context of ICTs. This conference also follow up the footprints of the interaction of communication, technology and labour in politics, daily life and culture, economics, and to build up “pro-labor” conceptual and theoretical frameworks to explain these footprints.
The topic will include:
- Conceptual and theoretical frameworks “claiming” the explanations of the new forms of capitalism
- ICTs and the new forms of economic, political and ideological structures of capitalism
- ICTs and organization, solidarity and resistance
