The third biennial International Statistical Ecology Conference (ISEC2012) will be organized from 3 to 6 July, 2012 at Sundvolden Hotel outside Oslo. The event will be hosted by Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis, Department of Biology, University of Oslo
Pre-conference workshops will also be organized on the area of ecological statistics taking place 30 June to 3 July. Two of these will be organized at Finse Alpine Research Center in the Hardangervidda mountain plateau and the other two at the conference venue, Sundvolden Hotel. Abstracts for contributed talks and poster presentations are welcome.

- Otso Ovaskainen, Univ. of Helsinki: The analysis of spatial data: individual movements and species and community models
- Andre Punt, Univ. of Washington: Estimating precautionary thresholds for US west coast fisheries
- Andy Royle, Patuxent Wildlife Research Center: Incorporating auxiliary spatial information in capture-recapture models
- Len Thomas, Univ. of St. Andrews: The future of statistical ecology
Moreover, to an extensive range of session topics for contributed talks, there will be two special sessions with invited talks:
- Statistical approaches to paleobiological questions, chaired by Lee Hsiang Liow
- The development and use of statistical methodology in fisheries research, chaired by Mark Maunder
