There is growing evidence that what happens – or doesn’t happen – to children in the earliest years of their lives has immediate effects on their well-being and their future. Early childhood development is emerging as a priority issue on the policy agenda in developing countries.
To facilitate discussion and dialogue on this important issue, the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) in partnership with University College London and the Centre for the Evaluation of Development Policies at the Institute of Fiscal Studies is hosting an international conference ‘Promises for Preschoolers: Early Childhood Development and Human Capital Accumulation in Developing Countries’ in London on June 25-26, 2012.
This conference will feature new, cutting edge research on the process of human capital development, factors affecting investment in early childhood development and the impact of early childhood development interventions, with several platforms for discussion around policy influence.
