Conservative politicians and special interests are working to undermine progress in Washington and around the country. Young people know the stakes: The facts are on our side, and the urgency is on our side. But big money and right-wing organizing threaten the progressive change we need on issues like education, jobs, health care, reproductive choice, labor rights, clean energy, LGBTQ equality, and immigration.
The 2012 Campus Progress National Conference will begin July 25 with a training day for 120 conference attendees. Campus Progress will select and train participants on how to be effective advocates and journalists in their own communities. Participants will learn how to plan issue campaigns, the difference between progressive and political journalism, and how to use social media effectively.issue campaigns, the difference between progressive and political journalism, and how to use social media effectively.
Eligibility-
- Between the ages of 17-29 years
- From geographically diverse regions representing all 50 states
- Representative of all racial, sexual orientation, and socio-economic backgrounds with a concerted effort at including the traditionally disenfranchised and underrepresented
- Students from four-year institutions, community colleges, non-conventional higher education institutions, and graduate programs; or are young professionals.
