The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) invites student SPJ members to apply for the Robert D.G. Lewis First Amendment Award to participate in the Excellence in Journalism Conference. The conference is being held from 4-6 September 2014 at Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
The national journalism conference of SPJ and Radio Television Digital News Association ‘Excellence in Journalism’ offers training, networking, workshops and more to the participants.
The Society of Professional Journalists is a journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior. SPJ promotes the free flow of information vital to a well-informed citizenry; works to inspire and educate the next generation of journalists; and protects First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press.
The scholarship covers- convention registration and $350 for travel expenses.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be a student SPJ member.
- Applicant must have demonstrated outstanding service to the First Amendment through the field of journalism.
