The American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS) invites scientists, planners, and scholars of social science and humanities to submit proposals for paper presentation during the Regional Symposium entitled ‘Extreme Weather, Disasters, and Indigenous Practices in South Asia’. The regional symposium aims to examine the best available projections highlighting the impact of climate change and possible responses to it. Alongside, one major objective of the symposium is to grow greater research interest in this particular subject, and also assemble data that may be useful to policy makers and responders.
The regional symposium is hosted by the American Institute of Bangladesh Studies and will be held on 16 October 2014 at the Madison, Wisconsin, USA.
AIBS is a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) that provides fellowships for the US scholars to conduct research in Bangladesh. Other programs of the institute are- the Extension Bangladesh Lecture Series, the Research and Development Seminars, the Undergraduate Research Fellowship Grant, and the Faculty Support Funds.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Applying individual must be scientist, planner or scholar of social science and humanities.
- Proposal (maximum 400 words) must be for paper/panel presentation related to the main theme and/or sub-themes of the conference.
- Proposal must include a list of name of the presenter(s)/panelist(s) and their institutional affiliations along with complete contact details of the applicant.
AIBS accepts travel grant applications from the US participants whose proposals are selected for paper/panel presentation in the symposium. The participants must submit the applications at least two (2) weeks prior to the start date of the conference.
