The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) invites applications from middle management civil society leaders from Gambia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Liberia to apply for the 2014 West Africa Civil Society Leadership Institute (CSLI) program. The two-weeks program to be held from 13-24 October 2014 seeks to enhance the organizational leadership capacities of middle management West African civil society practitioners.
The CSLI targets to empower middle-level practitioners within civil society in the region with competencies to occupy leadership positions within the sector.
Approaches
- Individual – produce interventions, strategic plans and publications by reassessing oneself, the life goals, personal abilities and analyzing the regional and global trends.
- Organizational – capacity building of professionals enabling them to cultivate robust operational structures, systems and knowledge management processes within organization
- Societal – enable participants to conceptualize and operationalize significant change initiatives that improves the quality of life of community citizens
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be the nationals of and/or working in one of the following countries – the Gambia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Liberia.
- Applicants must be middle management officer and have a minimum of two years of work experience in their current organization.
- Applicants must have demonstrated leadership or critical problem-solving skills in their current or previous job.
- Applicants must be willing to return to their current organizations and work for at least one year.
- Applicants must have an excellent understanding of the English language.
Application materials include – curriculum vitae, completed application form, a letter of motivation, a letter of endorsement from the head of current organization stating how the applicant’s participation in the program will benefit the organization.
Note: The program is supported by Ford Foundation. Applicants are required to mention if they need scholarship or not and what expenses they are willing the organizers to cover, in the application form.
