The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) invites youth from South-East Europe, Central and Western Europe, Canada and the USA between 25-35 years of age to apply to participate in the two-day Youth Forum to be held from 16-17 June 2014.
The participants will discuss challenges to youth political participation in the 21st century and ways to overcome these. The forum will come with recommendations for OSCE and its institutions on how they can better assist participating States to meet their commitments and obligations on the inclusion of youth in democratic processes.
Categories:
- Voice: Informal forms of political participation focusing on online activism. Candidates include representatives of social media groups and bloggers.
- Influence: Semi-formal forms of political participation and focusing on civil society organizations active in advocating and lobbying for changes to policies. Candidates include leaders who want to influence politics but do not want to do so through formal structures.
- Governance: Formal mechanisms of political participation such as political parties and governance institutions. Candidates include leaders such as young politicians and members of parliaments, government representatives, city councilors, policy and political advisors.
