Objectives: Boeing’s grant-making programme aims to provide financial assistance towards the development of community projects in the fields of education, environment, health, civic engagement, art and culture. The main goal of the cash grant programme is to fund experienced organisations with the aim of implementing projects, which have the potential to be sustainable and also to be replicable. Partner organisations are chosen among those that can demonstrate a commitment to the promotion of diversity and that engage the communities where they operate to solve existent problems with long-term strategies.
Areas of Funding: Grants are given according to 5 main areas of intervention; Education, Environment, Health and Human Services, Arts and Cultures, and Civic Engagement. Boeing addresses selected goals in specific geographic areas. For instance, in Sub Saharan Africa, Boeing funds projects in the fields of Education and Health and Human Services whereas in Eastern Europe, Boeing funds projects in the fields of Education, Environment, Civic Engagement, Health and Human Services. It is crucial to know which are the priority areas for funding in your geographical area to understand whether your proposal has the potential to be funded. Geographic Focus: No geographical restriction, but limitations are given according to the priority area of intervention for the region where you work (see list above).
Programs or Prizes: Cash grants are given to develop projects in 5 main fields of action. Main goals for each programme are:
1) Education: to build capacity and align educational system by focusing on the development of school leadership to advance students’ capacity for lifelong learning and their overall educational outcomes especially in Science, Technology, and Maths.
2) Environment: to educate and engage communities about the importance of taking action to reduce the impact of climate change.
3) Health and Human Services: to improve health, to improve access to health, to increase the number of individuals trained to become health workers, to increase job opportunities for health workers.
4) Art and Cultures: to engage communities in participating in art and cultural projects to broader their perspectives, to challenge stereotypes through art works, to boost people’s creativity also as a means to train people to solve complex issues.
5) Civic Engagement: to increase public understanding and engagement in community life, to help young generations to become future leaders of the community by understanding main problems faced by the community and look for possible innovative solutions.
How to Apply Information: For each region (city or geographical area) Boeing provides a document explaining the priority area of action and how to apply. Consult the document relevant to your area because there are specific deadlines for different regions. Yet, the application process is the same worldwide. First of all, you should submit a letter of enquiry via the online application system here. Only selected applicants will be invited to submit a full project proposal. It normally takes up to 1 month for the jury to select candidates for the full project proposal submission. Grants are normally given annually (exceptions apply, please consult documents relevant to your area to understand whether there is more than 1 call for your region).
