The Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) in partnership with the Global Development Network (GDN) is seeking proposals from eligible research organizations in Senegal and Burkina Faso on a project entitled “Varieties of Governance: Effective Public Service Delivery in Basic Education, Water and Roads”.
The current research project is a part of the global project involving 14 similar research studies in Anglophone Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States, Latin America and Asia Pacific. The study aims at analyzing at the links between country and sector governance systems and the corresponding public service delivery outcomes in the areas of basic education, water and roads.
Funding for the Senegal and Burkina Faso studies has been provided by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, France.
Issues
Key issues being examined include the role of decentralization, functioning of specialized agencies, private sector participation, quasi-markets, community participation and accountability.
Eligibility
- Research organizations in Burkina Faso and Senegal interested in national studies on one or two of the sectors.
- At least half of the team should be residents in the country of study, including the lead researcher.
- Multi-disciplinary (sector specialists, economists and political scientists or analysts) and gender balanced research teams are encouraged.
- Research teams able to work in English will be considered.
