The Open Estonia Foundation is seeking applications from non-government organisations for its NGO Fund program within the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism, funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The program is earmarked to provide flexible and accessible funding to eligible NGOs, with the aim to foster an enabling environment for the sector, strengthen its capacity and enhance its contribution to social justice, democracy and sustainable development.
Objectives
- Strengthening civil society development and enhanced contribution to social justice, democracy and sustainable development.
- Strengthening bilateral relations between beneficiary countries and donor states (i.e. Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein)
Expected Outcomes
The grants of the NGO programme target and contribute to the following outcomes:
- Democratic values, including human rights, are promoted
- Advocacy and watchdog role of NGOs is developed
- Strengthened capacity of NGOs and an enabling environment for the sector has been promoted
Priority Areas
- Developing and increasing the use of eco-friendly technologies
- Improving healthcare services and reducing health inequalities
- Assisting vulnerable children and youth at risk
- Improving the environmental standard of marine and inland waters
- Increasing intercultural awareness and dialogue and supporting integration of national minorities
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-governmental public benefit organisations established as a legal entity in Estonia, independent of local, regional and central government, political parties and commercial organisations.
