Macleay College is accepting applications for journalism scholarship program in Australia. The scholarship is valued at $12,000 and has 2 sections: financial support for applicants course, plus an all expenses paid internship at the world renowned, award-winning Centre for Investigative Reporting (CIR) in California.
Submission required-
- a piece of writing – up to 1,000 words – in news or feature style, accompanied by a photograph or photographs; or
- a video story, of no more than three minutes’ duration; or
- a radio bulletin of no more than three minutes’ duration
Benefits-
- The scholarship includes airfares, accommodation and food and transport expenses (approximate value $7,000).
- The winner will write stories for The Newsroom, Macleay College’s own online news operation, and produce a report on future journalism, having interviewed key people at the CIR. Upon completion of their Diploma in 2014 the winner will also receive a further $5,000, towards their course fees.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- The scholarship is open to applicants of the Diploma of Journalism.
- The winner must enroll at Macleay as a full-time student in Trimester 1 2014 and pass the first 8 units of the 12-unit Diploma of Journalism (the normal academic progression) by the end of Trimester 2 2014. Having satisfied those requirements, they will then receive a two-week internship at the Centre for Investigative Reporting in California.
