Real Needs is the community grants program established by Real Insurance to help organisations and agencies working with Australian children in need. It encourages Not-For-Profit organizations working with children to apply for charitable funding, which will enable them to further aid youth in need. Apart from providing charities with grants, Real Needs assist them to manage programs that help children in need across Australia, and make a real difference to the community by addressing the growing issues faced by Australia’s youth.
Focus Areas
- Child sporting initiatives
- Education programs / schools (such as reading lessons in aboriginal communities)
- Play / weekend away programs
- Domestic violence retreats for children
- Behavioural issues treatment
- Mental Health issues management
- Trauma intervention centres
- Agricultural training programs
- Drama centres / the arts for children who have trouble with social interaction.
- Charities that focus on children welfare, health, disabilities
- Outback / Indigenous community centres
- Family services agencies
- Homeless shelters for children
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants can be Australian
- Not-for-profit (must specifically support children under 18)
- Registered charities
- Schools P&C (not the administration)
- Community groups and services
- Sporting clubs
- Hospital community programs (not the hospital admin)
- Individuals, government body, ‘for profit’ organization and Tax funded hospital administration are ineligible to apply.
How to Apply?
- Applications can be submitted using application form available on the website.
- Applicants need to supply the following information:
- How the grant will benefit the child / children with the funding
- How the grant will benefit the community
- What will the money buy / provide?
- How they will manage the grant budget
- Current financial information
- What the organisation’s goal is – will it help a specific or new program?
- Registered charitable number
- Identify if the applicant is registered charity, NFP, community group etc
- Verify legal status
- ABN
- Evidence of current insurance status (public liability and/or professional indemnity)
- Physical and postal address
