The Status of Women Canada is calling proposals for projects which will support in ending violence against women and girls in Canada. Status of Women Canada works to advance equality for women and girls in Canada.
Funding Availability
- For projects at the local/regional level (36 months) – $300,000
- For projects at the national level (36 months) – $500,000
Project elements must include:
- the specific issue to be addressed, why this issue is of particular importance/relevance in your community, and how the project will help to advance equality for women and girls in Canada;
- the approach and activities that will be undertaken to address the issue, including how key decision makers and/or community leaders will be actively involved in the project;
- the short and medium term results the proposed project will achieve, including what sustainable change can potentially be created that will continue beyond the life of the project.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible recipients are:
- Not-for-profit Canadian organizations, excluding labour unions; post secondary educational institutions and religious institutions;
- For-profit Canadian organizations, if the nature and intent of the funded activity is non-commercial and not intended to generate profit;
- Aboriginal governments (including band councils, tribal councils and self-government entities) and their agencies in rural and remote areas where there is a lack of capacity among non-profit and for-profit organizations;
- Territorial governments (local, regional, territorial) and their agencies in the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
Project activities should:
- Occur within a specific period of 36 months or less;
- Contribute to the Women’s Program’s mandate by addressing the Program’s objective;
- Fall within one or more of the Program’s areas of focus;
- Articulate clear plans to achieve demonstrable results; and
- Involve women who are affected by the issue being addressed by the project.
