Call for applications for the 2012 Alan Thomas Fellowship to Promote Civil Society and Voluntary Action. First awarded in 2008, there are now six Fellowship recipients. The 2012 Fellowship will again be awarded to a leader in the NGO/not-for-profit sector, who would not normally have access to a sabbatical leave.
The Carold Institute for the Advancement of Citizenship in Social Change was established in 1989 with an endowment from Ms. Clare Clark, a long time participant in, and advocate for voluntary organizations in Canada. Clare Clark was an active volunteer in the Canadian Association for Adult Education (CAAE) for more than 20 years and developed a profound understanding of the connection between adult education and citizen participation in civil society. Each year the Carold Institute recognizes the importance of adult education, civil society, and the voluntary sector by awarding a grant of up to $60,000 to applicants wanting to take a year-long sabbatical to research and write on a project which advances citizenship and social change.
The Issues and themes covered under this opportunity are involved in working, volunteering, governing or funding non-profit community services.
