All eligible Organizations from Canada are invited to submit proposals for Volunteer Cooperation Program organized by The Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD), Government of Canada. The major purpose of this program is to improve the economic and social well-being of poor and marginalized communities in developing countries.
Objectives:
- To increase the capacity of developing country partners to deliver sustainable development results, in response to local needs, by making use of the skills and expertise of qualified Canadian volunteers
- To enhance Canadians’ participation in Canada’s development efforts
Thematic Areas:
- Increasing food security
- Securing the future of children and youth
- Stimulating sustainable economic growth
- Advancing democracy
- Ensuring security and stability
Eligibility criteria:
- Preference will be given to initiatives that include innovative elements. Innovation is defined as improved solutions to international development challenges.
- Preference will also be given to initiatives that increase diaspora involvement.
- Only Canadian organizations that meet all eligibility criteria and every requirement indicated in the application form will be considered for the Volunteer Cooperation Program call for proposals, either on their own or as the lead organization in a consortium.
Note:
- Canadian organizations that do not meet the eligibility requirements, may form a consortium with another organization meeting all required eligibility criteria.
- Canadian organizations may submit only one application to the Volunteer Cooperation Program call for proposals, either on their own or as the lead in a consortium. Initiatives proposed must be for five years in length.
