The Canadian Partnerships (CP) program’s Small Grants for Innovative Research and Knowledge-Sharing respond to requests from local, regional, national and international organizations based in Canada that are engaged in producing or sharing “research and knowledge for development”.
The main aim of this programme is to improve Canadians’ understanding of global development issues which affect Canada and lower-income countries and enhance the knowledge and skills to address them. North-South collaboration as it can be significant in effectively tackle such issues. We respond to requests within IDRC’s mandate, while maintaining the flexibility to support ideas and activities that may go beyond our current thematic priorities. We also strongly encourage collaboration between and among Canadian institutions, within and across types of institutions (e.g. universities and non-governmental organizations).
Major objective of this programme for 2010-15 is to strengthen the capacity of the Canadian international development and research community to carry out research and knowledge-related activities with the potential to influence policy and practice in a collaborative manner across types of institutions and sectors and with Southern partners.
Proposals that fit with one or more of CP’s identified outcome areas:
- Strong collaboration in research and knowledge-sharing among Canadian institutions and with counterparts in developing countries
- Increased contribution of Canadian collaborative research and knowledge to policy and practice of development actors
- Improved capacity of Canadian institutions to learn from their experiences and to share lessons with others
Small Grants for Innovative Research and Knowledge-Sharing offering support for the Canadian development and research community to undertake collaborative research and evidence-based dialogue with academics, policymakers, and practitioners, usually with Southern partners, so that these can more effectively contribute to solving complex global problems.
