Deadline- November 2, 2012
AU(AIDS United) is partnering with the M·A·C AIDS Fund (M·A·F) invites proposals for funding opportunity in Retention in Care (RiC).
This initiative will play a strategic role in supporting the development of model programs that remove the barriers to retention in HIV healthcare for populations that are underserved and at highest risk of dropping out of care. Further, this AU/ M·A·F partnership will assist the HIV/AIDS community at a critical and historic time — simultaneously with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and the White House Office of National AIDS Policy implementation of the first National HIV/AIDS Strategy for the United States. One of the pillars of the strategy is optimizing health outcomes for PLWHA.
The overarching goal of the Retention in Care initiative will be to increase retention in effective HIV healthcare by PLWHA, particularly those living in poverty and who are at high risk for dropping out of care or becoming sub-optimally engaged in care. Through this Request for Proposals (RFP) for RiC, AU (with generous resources provided from M·A·F) will support approximately five grantees to facilitate retention in healthcare by strengthening support and service systems, and addressing barriers that affect people’s ability to consistently participate in HIV healthcare.
AIDS United encourages applications that include a focus on marginalized, underserved populations that traditionally have less access to, and retention within, medical care.
Eligibility-
The RFP process will be open to any qualified applicant regardless of their funding status with AU. Applicants who are currently funded through another AU initiative will be evaluated against the same criteria as other applicants, using the same expert review panel and technical assistance process. However, currently funded applicants would have the additional requirement of articulating how these resources would expand the scope and impact of the current project and contribute to innovative and replicable interventions that enhance, expand or strengthen retention in care project activities.
Funding-
Total project budgets are expected to fall into a range of $200,000 – $250,000 annually, depending upon the scope, scale and numbers of individuals being reached in the proposed project.
